Image Meta

Description

When you upload an image, Image Meta fills in attachment fields based on your settings. You can set each of the following from the file name, IPTC/XMP caption, or leave it blank:

  • Title
  • Caption
  • Description
  • Alt text (from title, caption, description, or blank)

Modern cameras and editors often store captions in XMP (dc:title / dc:description) rather than classic IPTC. This plugin reads both.

Configure the plugin under Settings Image Meta.

  2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen.
  3. Go to Settings Image Meta and choose how each field should be filled.

FAQ

Does this change existing images?

No. It applies when new images are uploaded (or when attachment metadata is regenerated).

Why wasn’t my caption imported?

WordPress core only reads classic IPTC (APP13) and some EXIF fields. Many apps write XMP instead. Image Meta reads XMP title/description as well.
